Remote control Android devices

AskLink supports initiating remote control sessions to Android devices. This article explains how to use AskLink to control an Android device.

Enable the required permissions for Android Controlled mode

Before an Android device can be controlled, you must complete the required permission configuration.

  1. On the Remote Support page, tap the blue bar at the bottom that says “To control this device remotely, please enable the required permissions first.”

Notes:

  • After AskLink is closed and restarted, some permissions (for example, Accessibility and screen recording) may need to be enabled again.

Request remote support via ID and password

When you need assistance from another person, you can share the device ID and temporary password to grant temporary remote control permission so they can support you.

How to find the ID and password

  1. Open the AskLink client and go to the Remote Support screen.
  2. Check the device ID and temporary password.

Request support

Share the device ID and temporary password with the supporter so they can initiate a remote control session.

Be controlled via the device list

After you sign in on the device with the same account as the Controller and set the role to Controlled, the device is automatically added to the Controller’s device list. The Controller can then start a passwordless remote control session with one click based on account verification, without saving or remembering a separate connection password.

If the device is not currently signed in as Controlled, you can go to Settings at any time to enable it again.

  1. Tap My > Security Options.
  2. Turn on the Control this device from list option.
